The Soda City Pinball League is a co-ed team league intended to bring people together for some drinks, pinball, and a little friendly competition. The league seeks to provide a fun setting for tournament players and to serve as a welcoming community for those new to pinball. All skill levels are welcome! This year we have teams from locations across the Columbia area (Bangback Pinball Lounge, Chubby’s Burgers, Craft and Draft Irmo, Hazelwood Brewing, and Transmission Arcade). Outside of the cost of the pinball games, it is only $15 to join! Each team consists of 5 to 12 players. Teams gather for matches once a week on Tuesdays at either their “home” location or an “away” location. Each team plays half of their matches at “home” and half “on the road.” The season consists of 8 weeks of play, plus 2 weeks of playoffs. Teams accumulate points based on their performance in match play, and at the end of the season there is a series of playoff matches to ultimately determine the league champion.
Gather a team and register as a team. If you need a team contact the League Director. We’ll make sure you have all the info you need and help you find a team.
We work with the other leagues to do our best to ensure people can play in all leagues if they want. However, sometimes there will be a little overlap but that’s not the end of the world. Not everyone has to show up each week, that’s the great thing about playing on a team. In addition most leagues around town also allow you to miss up to two weeks without it counting against you.
$15. Your Team Captain will collect your registration fee at the start of the season.
Roughly 7 to 9pm depending on how good your team is 😉
Each match consists of 5 rounds of play. 2 rounds of Singles (head to head), 2 rounds of Doubles (your score plus your partners), and our favorite round, the Split Flipper round. During rounds you’ll have fun playing, talking, eating, and drinking. The number of games you play in will depend on how many team members you have present. If you want to play more than 5 rounds just come a little early or stay a little late.
Register as a TEAM CAPTAIN for one of the participating venues! Each team will require 1-2 captains.
Responsibilities of a CAPTAIN include:
Kids 10 years old and up can play as long as a parent/guardian is on site, they can follow instructions from a Team Captain, and you’re okay with them staying up late. Transmission Arcade is 21+ after 7pm so kids will not be allowed to compete if the team is playing at Transmission Arcade.
